Jud Goldsmith

Jud Goldsmith is the Co/Founder of 631 Success LLC. 631 Success is a unique boutique consulting firm that specializes in helping companies gain traction to scale and grow. 631 provides assistance in obtaining financing and works alongside the clients providing back office, administrative, organizational development, logistics and operational support. We are operating people who like to make money.

For over 25 years, Jud Goldsmith has worked as a CFO for middle market private and public companies. Most recently, Jud served as CFO of Clean Fund LLC, a finance company providing PACE financing. Earlier, Jud co-founded a startup that identifies opportunities to increase operating efficiency. The SaaS system calculates the cost and contribution of work teams anywhere in a company, mapping where profits are made and which departments are not contributing. Previously, Goldsmith was the finance member of the team of three who purchased an SaaS company focused on automating enrollment and record keeping of employer benefit records. The company was successfully sold.

Goldsmith served as CFO and then COO of Hybrid Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq HYBR), a manufacturer and supplier of a wireless broadband alternative to DSL and cable. During his tenure as COO, the $100 million annual run-rate company's market cap increased from $65,000 to $750 million. Goldsmith’s finance roles and duties included SEC reporting, Corporate Secretary, raising capital, budgeting and operations review, developing strategic alliances and interface with Board of Directors. Other duties included supervising IR, HR and IT. Accomplishments included moving to profitability as the company grew. Product margins increased to over 50%. A price increase of 72% was negotiated for a volume product. As revenue grew, Goldsmith managed operating margins by matching expenses to current revenue and concentrating on both near-term and long-term opportunities. The company sold $50 million in equipment and services to Sprint. A total of $26 million was raised in two equity financings. Green experience includes work in recycling in the paper and printing industry, the urban forest and emissions control in the auto industry.

Other experience includes relocating and operating a production facility, moved from Northern California to Tianjin, People’s Republic of China.

Previously, Goldsmith served as CFO of Dolby Laboratories, Inc., responsible for all support activities as the audio industry leader moved from London to San Francisco with U.S. employees growing from 14 to 80. Other assignments included establishing a separate licensing subsidiary to avoid ruinous tax exposure and completion of the company’s first international IRS audit with no material adjustments. Goldsmith’s other employment includes Onyx Systems, Inc., Marcona Corporation, Fibreboard Corporation, Arcata National Corporation and Boise Cascade Corporation.

Goldsmith received an M.B.A. from the University of Washington and a B.A. in Economics from Dartmouth College. Affiliations include memberships in the Association for Corporate Growth and Financial Executives International, in both cases serving as a Chapter Director.

John Bowman

John is the Co/Founder of 631 Success LLC. John is a finance and operations professional with over twenty years of senior executive (CFO, COO, President) and management consulting experience with publicly traded and private software, high technology, and manufacturing companies. John has been recognized in financial publications as a “business doctor” due to his ability to turn around ailing businesses and improve profitability.

His multi-discipline management experience includes systems, sales, production, legal, and international business, with significant experience in mergers, acquisitions, and financial restructuring. John has most recently engaged with the management consulting firm Hickey & Hill advising financially and operationally challenged companies. Prior experience includes President and CEO, River Ranch Fresh Foods, President Border Foods, COO and CFO of Centura Software (Gupta), President of Country Club Foods, CFO for Spreckles Sugar, Controller for Memorex Corporation (a Unisys division) and various other financial management positions with Unisys Corp. In addition, John has been on the Board of Directors of a two software companies and Vice-Chairman of a federally chartered financial institution.

Ann Blackburn

Dr. Ann Blackburn is the Co/Founder of 631 Success, LLC. 631 Success is a unique boutique consulting firm that specializes in helping companies gain traction to scale and grow. 631 provides assistance in obtaining financing and works alongside the clients providing back office, administrative, organizational development, logistics and operational support.

Dr. Blackburn is also the Founder/CEO of the Executive Advisory Forum "EAF" a business affinity organization for Senior level executives and entrepreneurs. She is also President of Blackburn Advisory Services, a firm that provides commercial real estate and business advisory services to private and public sector clients. Ann is a Partner with Greenpoint Homes which develops single-family homes in the East Bay, California. Ann is also the Managing Director of 631 Success, a boutique consulting firm that specializes in helping start-ups obtain the traction they need to scale.

Prior to starting her own company in 2003, Ann was the CEO of EPMI, a company with a portfolio of properties located in three states and hundreds of employees. Ann was also a Deputy Director for the Presidio Trust, a federal corporation and from 1995-2000, was the National Public/Private Practice Leader for Ernst & Young. As a Project Director for Bechtel Investments, Inc. from 1988-1995, Ann managed the development of business parks, the approval process for high-rise office buildings, real estate investment sales & acquisitions and partner/investor relationships for foreign partnerships.

As a member of the Women Impacting Public Policy (WIPP) Board of Directors, Dr. Blackburn provided strategic counsel on strengthening the impact of women business owners at the federal legislative and executive levels, working directly with the SBA and Congress.

In addition to her board positions with WIPP, Ann served as a Board Member of the National Women's Business Council, a Presidential appointment. She has previously served as a member of the Board of Regents for JFK University. She served as President of Commercial Real Estate Women San Francisco and as President of the National Network of Commercial Real Estate Women with chapters across the US. Ann was a delegate for a US State Department sponsored Middle Eastern/US Businesswomen Ambassador program and continues to host visiting Partners from the Middle East and China delegations. Ann is a member of the Association of Defense Communities and has been a frequent speaker at Economic Conferences, Urban Land Institute, and Leadership Development Conferences.

Ann is a graduate of the FBI Academy for Citizens and continues to receive quarterly updates about FBI activities and to act as a citizen ambassador on their behalf.

Blackburn has a Doctorate from the University of San Francisco in Organizational Leadership, an MA from Cal. State University San Francisco and a BA from Cal State University Sacramento where she also obtained her teaching credential. She is a Professor Emeritus at the Chapman University graduate program for Organizational Leadership.

Ann lives in Walnut Creek, Ca. with her husband Ross.

Richard J. Selmeier

Richard J. Selmeier, Principal, has served as a top executive with Fortune 100 companies and several high technology pioneers. He began his career in consumer packaged goods with Procter & Gamble and then oversaw the Clorox account for Foote, Cone & Belding, and managed the Western Region for American Express before launching a CEO career.

Dick has assumed numerous chief level roles at the following companies: President and CEO for Sandaro Industries, a high tech company sold to Total, Ltd.; GM of DTS Decision Support/CustomerLinx; President/COO of Tele Atlas North America, the U.S. subsidiary of the Dutch-owned digital mapping company; and President/CEO of Aserta Sports, designer of revolutionary golf equipment.

In between these assignments, he developed and ran his own management consulting practice providing strategic planning, branding and sales management expertise to a “who’s who” of clients including: Microsoft, Hewlett-Packard, American Express, Bank of America, McKesson Corporation, Clorox Company, Monsanto and The American Red Cross.

Dick has both an MBA and BBA from the University of Michigan and Certifications in Advanced Management Studies in Strategic Planning from Harvard University and in Organization Development from the University of Michigan. He was a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy and is recognized for distinguished service in Vietnam and Southeast Asia.
